Luke Baker, from Houston, TX, U.S.A. Is the Principal Horn of the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra in Fukuoka, Japan. Luke received his Master of Music from the Yale School of Music and his Bachelor of Music from the Meadows School of the Arts at SMU. His teachers include William Purvis, Greg Hustis, Haley Hoops, Gavin Reed, and Holley Linder. Luke has also performed as principal horn with the Korean Broadcasting Orchestra, Sun Symphony Orchestra, Hyogo Performing Arts Center Orchestra, Kobe City Chamber Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, and The Orchestra Now. Luke was named the winner of the 2017 International Horn Competition of America University division, the 2014 Meadows undergraduate concerto competition, and runner-up in the 2011 American Festival for the Arts Young Artist Competition. He was also a finalist in the International Horn Symposium Premiere Solo competition in 2018. While Luke enjoys playing in large orchestras, he has a passion for solo performance and chamber music. While Luke is not playing the Horn, he enjoys skiing, rock-climbing, and social dancing, and exploring new foods.
